Learning Gymnastics
Gymnastics is a sport. It is a form of exercise too. It teaches you the highest form of sacrifice and discipline. It is not for the weak hearted or for the weak minded. Learning gymnastics requires certain strength of mind that transcends that required for almost any other form of dedicated activity or sport.

Learning gymnastics can prove the stuff you are actually made of. It can prove whether you can sustain hard work. It can also prove whether you have a disciplined mindset, a mind which toils on unrelentingly towards that perfect 10 that will bring you Olympic glory a la Nadia Comaneci.

If you are really up to it, learning gymnastics can foster great qualities in you. It can reinstate in you the belief that failure is only an intermediate and necessary step towards eventual success. It can teach you the value of sacrifice in life to achieve your long-cherished goal.

Dedication of mind, spirit, and body are essential perquisites for a child to think even of learning gymnastics. No doubt the requirements can be learnt and mastered, but it is important that you start out as early as possible. With gymnastics, as with any other learning discipline, childhood at age four yours is the best time to mould your mind, spirit, and body into the subtle nuances that learning the sport requires.

The reason is that a small child is unencumbered by the distracting effects of a wayward mindset that is endemic in a comparatively older one. A good gymnastics coach always finds it easier to mould a child's overall persona into that which is required for an intensive sport like gymnastics.

Many a times it has been observed that children join gymnastics with enthusiasm. However, after the initial aura around it loses its sheen, they leave it as they are disillusioned by the amount of continuous hard work, sacrifice, and concentrated single-minded dedication. Some children think that they can learn gymnastics while they pursue all the other activities that normal children do.

You see, learning gymnastics is not a piece of cake. You need to sacrifice all your playing and studying and freaking out and seeing movies and so forth. If you want to learn gymnastics with excellence, it has to be the only activity you think of right from the time you get up from bed to the time you go to sleep.

You do indulge in other activities, but mind you, these other activities are only the step to better your body and mind in the mastering of gymnastics exercise techniques. Take your diet for example. If your body is to remain fit for achieving excellence in the sport, you need to cut out junk food and fat from your diet.

Gymnastics learning requires a certain level of discipline. Without discipline, punctuality, regularity and devotion, and a good coach, you can never last the full distance to achieve Olympic glory.
