The gymnastics hoop is one of the most commonly used gymnastics equipment. If you know how to use it correctly, you could create a spectacular performance with the help of various movements that require the use of hoop. Here are some of the moves that you can practice using the gymnastic hoop.
One of the simplest movements that you can perform with a hoop is to place it vertically on the floor. Now swing this hoop in a circular motion using your thumb and fingers. As the hoop begins to rotate, try to perform a body wave. This will create a simple yet a beautiful movement. Now carefully follow the spinning action so that you can re-grasp the hoop again. Twist your wrist along with your fingers for an easier grasp. Another beautiful movement that you could try with the hoop is the throw. Hold hoop with both your arms. Lower your arms. Now throw the hoop up in the air with a swinging motion. This will cause the hoop to turn over before it comes swinging down. But, make sure that you practice this well before you actually perform it else you might hurt someone present in the audience. Also, for this movement it is important for the hoop to turn over else it will seem like just another swinging motion. This one is slightly complicated but it is a delight to watch. Travelling through your hoop is one of the most spectacular movements that you can present with the hoop. Take the hoop in your hands. You could either use a single hand or both the hands for this purpose. Grasp the hoop either from above or below depending upon your convenience and comfort factor. Now, skip through the hoop either forward or backward. This again depends upon which movement you are comfortable with. Start travelling across the performance area to create a beautiful sight. Once you get a little comfortable with the gymnastics hoop, you could try some complicated moves as well. Throw the hoop high up in the air and as the hoop comes down, jump through it. This one requires a great sense of timing. So, make sure that you practice this well if you want to master this move. While some of these moves are pretty easy to master, there are others that require a little more practice. But with constant effort and some determination, you will be able to learn all of them.
